Dr. Chugay developed this procedure to address, with minimum of surgical trauma and little or no scarring, the unpleasant wrinkling and stretch marks around the belly button. Akin to a complete Tummy Tuck, the Periumbilical procedure will remove excess or lax skin and flatten the belly.

THE PROCEDURE

The cut is made around the belly button. Excess skin is removed around the whole circumference, and a permanent stitch is placed under the skin to bring the skin around and attach it to the belly button. The resulting minimal scar is completely hidden within the belly button.

WHAT MAKES THIS PROCEDURE UNIQUE?

Lack of visible scarring. There is simply no other surgery that will tighten the skin around the tummy without leaving at least some amount of noticeable scarring.

WHY WAS THIS NOT DONE BEFORE?

What makes Periumbilical Tummy Tuck possible is the subcuticular (under the skin) permanent stitch. This type of suturing is the trick to prevent the scar from spreading. This simply was not attempted before. Any other stitching resulted in the scar slowly widening beyond the perimeter of belly button.

HOW POPULAR IS THIS PROCEDURE?

Dr. Chugay trained less than a dozen surgeons around the world to perform this procedure. As it is further popularized, Periumbilical Tummy Tuck will undoubtedly become more commonly known and widely performed.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS PROCEDURE?

The ideal candidate will have relatively little amount of flaccid skin, stretch marks and wrinkles that are mostly located in the middle of the abdomen. For more severe cases, a complete Tummy Tuck or a Mini Tuck is appropriate. READ MORE ABOUT TUMMY TUCK.

ANESTHESIA

Dr. Chugay utilizes a combination of local anesthesia and IV sedation. You will be asleep and comfortable during the procedure. The risky general anesthesia is not used. LEARN MORE ABOUT ANESTHESIA.
