CORONAL FOREHEAD LIFT
Forehead wrinkles and skin sagging are frequent and unwelcome signs of aging. Depending on the amount of wrinkling and sagging, either Coronal Forehead Lift or Endoscopic Forehead Lift may be performed. Coronal Forehead Lift is an older yet much more extensive procedure, whereas Endoscopic Forehead Lift technique is best for little to moderate Forehead Lifting.
Dr. Chugay will secure your hair in front and behind the incision area. The procedure begins as he makes an incision starting at or near the ear and running across the top of your head slightly behind your hairline. The forehead skin is lifted up and excess skin is removed, sometimes with part or all of the muscles that cause forehead tension and wrinkling.
The incision is then closed with several layers of stitches, including Dr. Chugay's unique subcuticular stitches to minimize scarring and hair loss (it is important to stress that hair loss, if it occurs, is only associated with the areas near the incision and operation site). If your forehead is high, often the incision will be made at the anterior hairline to avoid further raising of the forehead.
Dr. Chugay uses blunt dissection with teasing blunt freeing up of tissues. While using sharp cutting instruments to free up the forehead skin is faster, blunt dissection is much safer for the patient and will result in less bleeding, less risk of nerve and tissue damage, lower risk of hematoma, faster healing and recovery.
Dr. Chugay uses subcuticular sutures for the final closure of the incision after the surgery. This technique is time consuming and difficult to execute. However, Dr. Chugay and some of his colleagues have helped a number of surgeons to gain proficiency with this method. Nonetheless, a vast majority of surgeons continue using removable sutures, which leave hash marks and increase hair loss.
Both blunt dissection and subcuticular suturing, along with other aspects of Dr. Chugay's technique will reduce your chances of hair loss at the area of incision.
Dr. Chugay uses a unique technique of rotating specially created hair-bearing flaps to minimize or eliminate the unpleasant effects of hairline rise.
